Richard Freeman began trading part-time as TechWizard™ in 2015. He volunteered at Dickens Heath Library supporting people who hadn't grown up with technology do the basics such as manage photo's, use social media, send emails etc. This turned into a full time venture in 2017 as there was a clear need in the local community for these services. Richard expanded into Computer Repair and provided a decommissioning service where he provided refurbished computers to low-income families, charities & non-profits at a low cost.
As time went on, Richard started doing work for local businesses, and started providing managed IT Services. He soon realised he needed some help! So in 2019, TechWizard IT Services Ltd started trading and we took on our first part-time member of staff. We started working with Digital Innovators & Solihull College and provided a work placement for 3 students and took on an additional 2 students part-time.
It was tough growing a business through the COVID period of 2020 - 2022, but we persevered, and we're still going strong. Due to the restrictions, we changed our business model to focus on remote services, primarily to local businesses. Richard still offers domestic appointments at weekends, primarily to support those who have been part of the TechWizard™ journey since day 1.
Now in 2022, Richard still doesn't get much sleep, but it's certainly much easier for him with 2 full-time members of staff, 2 full-time apprentices and 2 part-time staff. You can meet the team below:
